PLASTICS FOR WALLEYES ON THE RIVER

I have caught walleyes up to 9# thru the ice on frozen rivers with plastics. My favorite presentation is a whistler jig with a small tube body doused in Kickin' Walleye juice. Flyer jigs work well with plastics also. I tend to avoid curly tails fearing too much action may spook fish.

A plain round rattle jig with a power smelt or a paddle tail works for me. I dont like whistler jigs in a lot of current unless Im not very actively jigging it.

A bubble up tablet broke in half stuffed into the paddle tails seems to help. Especially for Lakers but at times eyes show a preference to it.

I have found very few colors better than white or yellow for the plastic. Chartreuse is pretty good too. For the whistler jig I like something with orange/green/white on it. Blue-Glow has worked very well and produced some very big fish for me. Work that whistler jig slowly until the fish tell you what they want. Same for the flyer jigs.
