huntingmaxima
Have many of you guys tried spearing in a Yukon? Do you have to add another layer of black material or is it dark enough?

spearchucker
I don't think they would be dark enough even if you really banked the snow around the house.

LABS4ME
when I began spearing, I used a blue flip over house, no door, and had to slush in the snow flap from the inside. The key was to pick a clearer lake and keep your movements to a minimum and you will get some fish.Throw a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet down too... that will help darken the water a little more.Good Luck!Ken
spearchucker
Paint it all black and it would work better.
-Marc V-
I spear out of a Yukon. First year spearing...would prefer one of the Canvas Crafts, but the Yukon seems alright for now without dropping the extra cash for a shack specific to spearing.I bought one of the Fish Trap Voyager travel covers that when the house is set up, I stretch over the top. Then layer a piece of dark tarp between the canvas and aluminum bars to cover any light coming through the door, then have a dark blanket I put in back to cover any light sneaking around the back window when it's velcro'd shut. It's a hogue-pogue deal, but it's seemed to work so far. I do believe a couple fish have seen us, but what do ya do.
