Help locating an old deer.

Recommended Posts

This is a longshot, but here goes. Many years ago my grandpa shot a "real big buck" while hunting out of what he referred to as "McDonald's Camp" (It was a logging camp north of Geise,MN and east of Magrath, MN)

He said a young kid who had shot a young deer was admiring his deer, and stated how he wished he could get a buck like that. Grandpa traded deer with him. He use to say "I didn't want to chew on that deer all winter." When I would ask him for details, he didn't remember. He never cared. "you can't eat the horns" he would say.

I don't want the deer, I would just like to see a photo, and hear the story. If anyone has an grandfather, dad, uncle, etc. who may have hunted there years ago, I would love to talk to them.

I wish I had a year, or other info to go one, but this is all I have. Thank you to all who read this.

Wow!!! Even with the minimum info you have that's a pretty cool story...

Amazing how deer hunting has changed over the years... Your grand dad hunted probably because he enjoyed it and wanted the meat... the horns meant little to him... and some kid learned a lot about life that day!

Hope something turns up for you, and if it does, as Paul Harvey says "now for the rest of the story" let us in on it!

Good Luck!

Ken
