BID2
Has anybody used this reel for muskie fishing? Does it hold up with the big lures/fish? How would you rate it? They seem to be affordable (49.99). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.BID
PikeHook
i tried one out last summer seemed better than any Shimano I have ever used(never had a shimano last a muskie season)but I use 4-6 rods set up with different lures so It's not my primary reel..I still will swear by Abu Garcia..They last for many years of hard fishing..I bought a Millionaire because a shimano fail me and it seemed better..But you get what you pay for too...for the money a 80-100 dollar abu garcia is going to be way better.. BID2
I just bought 2 of the three hundreds. Hopefully I like them. Reeds has a good deal on them. Cheapest price I could find anywhere on the net. Now, if winter would hurry up and go away.-BID
sbro73
If you had a problem with a Calcutta, Shimano is very good about fixing the problem. I have 3 Calcutta's - two (300TE) and one (400TE). The oldest is 4 years old, and works as good as the day I bought her. Granted these are more expensive, but I suppose you get what you pay for. PikeHook
Ok I had the 4 Corsairs they locked up completely so I paid the difference for a Calcutta 1 season stipped out gears makes no noise doesn't reel what so ever..2 gander mountain Guide Series reels lasted month each...1 bass pro shop muskie reel lasted 1 summer.. 3 Abu Garcia TCM series never a problem...2 C3s I started with never a problem...1 Daiwa Millionaire so far ok...2 Big Game Series are new so will see...Like I said before Shimanos are smoother I liked the Calcutta while I had it BUT just didn't last...I fish alot usally 4-5 nights a week and always all day sat. or sun. if not both and my reels take a beating it's alot of casting heavy lures I would pay whatever they want for a reel that works...As far as the Daiwa Millionaire goes it's smooth seems good but will not be my reel on my most used rods...As far as whats better don't care the name on any of my gear makes no differance to me I just want to fish....
