While your waiting for the contest to start on event day, you can chat to pro staff at the Marcum, Reel Weeds, Team Otter and Strikemaster tents. You can also check out the Skeeter boats that Frankie's Bait and Marine will have out there, including the Skeeter WX1790T Walleye boat we're giving away.

Phillips Distilling Co. will be there giving out free samples of Ice Hole Schnapps and UV Vodka.

Redwood Creek Wines will be there giving out free samples of wine. Anyone trying a sample of wine can enter to win a Otter Cabin portable ice house that day.

Auger Mate will be there doing demos of their ATV auger bracket.

And there will be demos of a very cool new product called the IceDucer Flex Sleeve - Fight the fish, not the tangle.

That why we decided to do it. We thought it would be fun and we can help out a lot of people through the VFW charities too.

We're hoping to raise $75,000 which will go to disabled vets and vets in need, and Wishes-and-More, which grants wishes to terminally ill children.

Also the VFW and the Lions will be out there selling beer and food of which 100% of the money made goes to charity.

And be sure to check out the raffle the VFW will have going on out there. $10 will get you a chance at over $22,000 in prizes, including a 8x16ft Ice Castle fish house and a Arctic Cat 500 atv.

I was fishin on 1 yesterday and found 18in. I would think that would be plenty. Plus theres 4 weeks till there contest.

Ticket sales were ok, but have really picked up this week.

I think sales are picking up because of the below zero weather we're experiencing right now and people know that this contest will not be canceled.

This is also the last week that you'll be able to save $10 on event tickets. The last day to get them for $30 is this Saturday. Tickets go up to $40 this Sunday.
