Humminbird sonar/GPS ?

I just purchased a used boat and it came with a Humminbird Matrix 27 locator. I was told that the unit was a combination sonar and GPS. It has a white plastic hockey puck shaped thing, that says humminbird on it, mounted on the hull by the windshield.

I want to upgrade to a sonar/GPS colored unit with better screen quality and use the existing transducer and dash mount. My question is will the GPS still work with the new unit if the new unit just says GPS ready on it or is there something else that I need to buy? It looks like the same mount and I believe the new unit uses the same type of transducer. The unit I am considering is the model 777c2 w/o transducer. I have sent an email to the company but they haven't replied yet.

What i would do is call a Crystal pierz dealer. They sold all these units on there boats last year, and they should be able to help you with it.

I know there not going with these units this year, they switched to a 767 with the chip.
