wastewaterguru
I have a eskimo powerhead on a jiffy chipper blade that I assembled from several broken augers a couple years ago. It has worked great until now.Just this season it is "catching" at the last 1/2" of a hole. Feels like it's gonna rip the arms off when it grabs.I got a new chipper blade for twenty something bucks but it didn't seem to solve the problem.Any ideas on other tuning issues. How do you check blade pitch?? Is there an easy way to sharpen the center guide blade....is this even a possible problem??Just looking for some ideas. Thanks,
0 bobber2400
I think you might have your blade on the bottom side of your auger. if you look in your owners manual it should have a diagram of your blade. The blade must be on the top.
0 wastewaterguru
Owner's manual....??That's funny. Not sure what you mean. I don't think there is a wrong way to put the blade on. Can someone find me a picture for reference??
0 sikasoman
I confirm what bobber2400 has reported. The replacement blade has been installed wrong. EXACT same thing happened to me a few years ago. Furthermore if you continue to use it as is, the bolts will eventually snap and your new blade will be laying in the bottom of the lake!! 0 Dragonsm
Here is a picture of the STX unit, but you get the idea in that it mounts to the top side of the bottom of the auger rather than the underside.
0 jltimm
Do Eskimo's turn the same way as Jiffy's? I always thought Jiffy's turned the opposite of all the other makes?
0 wastewaterguru
Thanks guys, I loaned this auger to a buddy over the summer and he took the blade off and fabricated a "dirt" blade for cutting post holes. He must have put the blade back on the wrong side when he was done. When I put on the replacement blade.....I put it on the same way as the one that I took off.
