upper lower red lake question

I'm on my way up there this friday. I know you can fish part of the lake but which part? upper lower? and how much of it?

Upper Red, the eastern portions, actually about a 1/3 of it. Check with any of the access sites and there maps. DO NOT GET CAUGHT ANYWHERE ELSE, you'll get hammered big time.

The Red Lake Chippewa band owns the rights to the western majority of Upper Red Lake and all of Lower Red Lake. You can't fish on reservation-controlled Red Lake unless they say you can. So, in other words, you can't fish there.

Just drive to Waskish (it's on the state highway map, barely), and there are plenty of roads you can drive out on. Check in at Rodgers Campground, the West Wind or Hudec's. They'll all tell you where to go.

Once youre on the lake how do you know how far out you can go out?
What does the res do with the lake that makes it non fishable?
