Fish&Fowl
Went out for 2 1/2 hrs. this afternoon and had so much going on I could hardly keep track. Saw at least a dozen fish, including having one pike hit another and chase it off only to go nuts on my decoy and sucker minnow. Also had a very fat fish in the upper 30's come in and chase off a smaller one, which I somehow got lucky enough to get on video. Would have been a very easy shot but I all ready had a nice 37" on the ice! All other fish are still swimming. I will try to get the video on here as well, not the greatest but very cool. fisherking01
Nice fish and pics. Noticed the small barbs on your spear. Do you have any trouble with fish getting off? I used one similar in the past, one lost fish and it was gone!! Have to say That's one pretty fish and looks like the perfect shot. Brent Checked out your video, cool. I have had the fortune to spearfish some incredible waters in my life. I have seen (never got on video) some incredible chases, hits, and even kills while pike fishing. Pike are very in tune to eating their own. On one particular lake in the past it was the norm to have upwards of 5 fish in the hole at one time, many times 4-6 pound fish. When they scatter, you know there's a big one close. Imagine that with only four feet of water under you!! Keep the photos coming!!
TDH
Nice fish man!!! Did you weigh it? How deep of water were you in?
Fish&Fowl
Fisherking01,Thanks for the comments. I couldn't imagine having that many fish in the hole at once! I have always wondered if those smaller barbs were going to make it easier for fish to come off, but it hasn't been a problem. I actually think with the smaller barbs you get better penetration, and I would assume a smaller hole is made so maybe it evens out.TDH,We are in a neckdown over an underwater point with 9' in one end of the hole and 11' in the other (it's a 2'x6' hole.) Didn't get a weight on the fish, I'm guessing around 13 lbs. She had about a 9" little eel pout in her stomach that was probably giving her that chunky look. I don't know if you saw the video I put on, but I wanna know what that thing was eating!
