Howling Freezer

Recommended Posts

There are basicly two motors that could cause a bearing noise, one from the bottom of the unit witch would be the condenser fan motor or one inside of the freezer compartment and that would be the evaperator fan motor. Also if you have a bad door gasket and a small amount of air is leaking through it can make a whistleing noise on the freezer side. If the unit is only one year old you might contact the dealer and check on warranty. If it is one of the fan motors don't wait until the motor fails. A bad condenser fan motor can also cause compressor failure due to over heating and the evap motor falilure can cause the evperator to freeze up and loss of cooling, ruining all of your food. Hope this helps.

I also have GE side by side and also have the howling. They replaced the evaperator fan motor (I believe) and it was fine for a period but now it is back to howling. I need to give them a call once again.
