Best reasonable priced compact binoculars?

Been doing some research and pretty much decided to buy a pair of Nikon 8x30 ATB Monarchs. Anyone out there know of any thing better in the $200-250 price range. Plan to use them for everything from birding to football.

Agreed! I have 2 Nikon Binocs, plus rifle scopes etc. All are very high quality, resonably priced.

I bought the 8x30 ATB Monarchs and they are great. Very smooth focus and crisp, clear views. Only problem I have with them is that the lens caps are a poor design.
