buildup on humidifier filter

I have a console humidifier for my palace. I use the stuff that is supposed to prevent the white build up, but I still get so much build up, I have to dry it out a couple times a winter and bring the filter outside and knock off all the buildup...any ideas???

I have well water and a watersoftner,offed the water softener, problem solved! I yet get some mineral buildup but bout 80% less.

so you're saying I should get the water out of the hydrant instead of from the house where it is softened?? I also have a well, and my all my water in the house goes through the softener.......

Ya try it for a week or two! I dont have a softener after I saw That shi in the wick. Let me know how yours turns out.I may have had a bad softener 20 yrs old but it did take care of the problem!

Ryan, Try cleaning the parts with a product called Santeen. You can pick it up at most hardware stores. Follow the directions on the label. This stuff eats mineral deposits like my grand daughter eats Christmas candy.
