West of the Metro

Has anyone had any luck in the WMA's west of the cities? For example the Woodland WMA or GrassLake WMA off of 12. Thinking about trying these this weekend, any info would help. Thanks

I live right by Woodland. It gets hunted hard but there are birds there. You have to work for them. You'll definitiely want to try the cattails with all this snow they will probably be in there and there are LOTS of cattails. I see birds flying from private land and into there all the time but it's real work these days. Good Luck.

Another WMA that is worth trying this time of year is Malardi WMA. It is north of 12 just outside of Montrose. The entire property is just cattails around a lake. But the whole thing is surrounded by corn fields! It is a quick hunt but it is worth hitting late in the season.
