New stradics or saros ?

Looking into getting another spinning reel in the 2500 size. Kind of leaning toward the daiwa tierra, but would like to hear comments from those that use the '07 new version stradic or saros. Thanks.

The new stradics and saros didnt hit until late in the season so you might not get much feedback but Id like to hear some too. Ive been looking into the Saros myself. The stradic looks nice but I dont have a ton of cash to drop right now. The only differences between the two that i am aware of is the saros does not come with the new Aero wrap oscillation and the stradic has a slightly better drag system.

I plan on getting one of each, but wont see them till spring. As TUTF said, the only real difference is the Stradic has a slower line wrap with will make for better line management. I think the stradic also has a different part to attach the bail arm to the reel.. and like TUTF stated a better drag.

Any updates from anyone on this comparison??

I am worndering if the stradic is worth the extra $30 ($160 is pretty steep for my pocket book). I am leaning towards the Saros. I have played with both at a few different stores, for some reason the Saros seem smoother than the Stradic - might be coincidence or my imagination, but this was the case at 4 different stores.

I really like the new handle on the 3000 series.

The Aerowrap will lay your line evenly on the spool from empty to full. Without that feature the Shimano's in general will put line in on a concave with spool full in neutral position; meaning it valleys in the middle. You can change that by adding more washers or reducing the washers depending on how you want your line on the spool. Smaller lines you want to cone to the top. Bigger lines you want to cone to the bottom. That's like the ABS spool line lay desing on Diawa's.

If you by chance think about using any superlines, get the Stradic. If only just mono's then Saros is absolutely fine. I don't know if the Saros featured a clutched open bail; meaning that while the bail is opened, it's resistant to handle turning on you. That prevents unexpected bail close while casting. Stradic and upwards does that.

Thanks Deitz. Does the Saros come with an extra spool?

I will likely buy the Saros 3000 and pairing it with my Fenwick HMG 7" med. Since this is my primary rod for casting crank/spinner baits, I am hoping to get more distance on casts with the newer design.

The old Stradic FH 2500 I had on it will be going on a new 6'6" rod I'll be using for jigging (balances out much better than the Supreme I was going to put on it).
