Night crawlers and worms for ice fishing?

Okay this may be a dumb question but here goes.... I have a worm farm at home for all my summer fishing needs, now heading into winter and I got a bunch of crawlers but why don't people use crawlers or worms now [besides larva etc.] Is it just that they are hard to get? and keep alive? or don't they work? I can get by the first two barriers..

For the first time in my ice fishing life I use crawlers a couple weeks ago. I totally smoked the crappies. These are crawlers that I was totally surprised were still alive in the garage fridge from September.

I have used crawlers and worms during late ice for sunnies several times and had good luck. Also, Walleys eat them too
