Anything catch your eye at this years show?

I like what Frabill has done with their flip over style house. The tub has "skis" and the way it's molded, allows you to have a little extra space. and there are covers on the inside. You can store stuff in that compartment. I thought that was kind of cool..

Yup. The USE4ALL drop down shack. It is a Thinsulate softside, but mounted on a trailer.

The Thinsulate and framing comes off to convert it to a cargo trailer.

This thing was SLICK! The wife and I almost bought it on the spot.

A 13' 6" X 6' 4" complete turn-key shack for $3995!

I think next year this rig will be in our driveway.

For those on a budget the Fish Cam is the way to go! Disclaimer- My little bro is working at the booth. However after looking it over myself, Good value stamp from a guy that doesn't have the income to go buy the Aqua vu model I would like to have. The show special beats any $99 pricetag you see...

I believe the Fish Cam runs on 10 C batteries in its bottom and does not have the capability to accept external power. I would take a look at the Marcum VS250 for a few more bucks. In the long run, a much better investment, even for a 1st camera. One csutomer found a deal on a VS250 for $125 after taxes with a $20 mail in rebate.

Otter Outdoors new Ice Camo caught my eye. As well as, Otter's newly designed retangular pole system (newer than Otter's current rectangular pole system) and unbreakable windows.

How about that nice storage compartment in between the Otter seats? That caught my eye, too!

Ya they got rid of the truck dealers and the Ice "Smurf" Team took over 1/4 of the main haul. I think Ice Fishing is hitting a plateau. It may have even started last year. Very few new products coming out and not many improvements on existing ones. I dont know what more you can use out on the ice that we dont already have.

Maybe X-ray vision goggles that make it possible to see through the ice and see structure and fish? crazy.gif

The fish vision UV Lure Paint was interesting. If it does what they say it will be worth its wait in gold.

Dave Im with you the new poles and windows on the Otter will be a hit. I may have to get one of them blue camo Otters. Id be the 1st around here to have one and people wouldnt have to stop at 10 purple Otters before they find mine. grin.gif

That new storage divider between the seats gives me all kind of ideas for it. Stereo system with Led lights out the front that you can point at your holes. Travel bar with blender and ice tray. Oops sorry I got carried away there. crazy.gif

The Icegator should be a mean cutting machine once they get the Nils shaft connected to it. That was probably the best new invention I saw this year. I dont think that canvas icehouse on wheels will last after a few years of driving down the freeway at 70 plus miles a hour.

That's funny because the booths were right next to each other grin.gif

Otter Blue caught my eye as well.

So did the Bikini Ice team wink.gif

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
