Spring Lake on the Mississippi!

How has the hunting been down there recently. Have always wanted to try this spot late in the season especially but have never cared much for crowds of duck hunters.

Hunted tonight. A lot of people and few birds.

Hunted out there sunday and monday. Did well on Sunday not as good on Monday. The company was top notch however. Was hunting with a group of guys who at one time or another were banned and may still be from this site. Amazing to me because they were all great guys. It was my first time hunting down there its definetily a different experience.

Ok, the truth be told the hunting was very good but a lot of people also. We shot 22 birds the last two days of the season with all but one being a greenie. Took on the big wind Tue morning and it was very much worth it. Birds decoyed very well and it was pretty calm by the time we left. A lot of people hunt that area and if you dont know where you are going it can be dangerous. The hunting can be great also.

Where is this lake? I'd be curious to look it up on a map for next year possibly. Thanks.

It's near Grey Cloud Island and Cottage Grove, St paul park area.

I dont recomend it, too many people and as everyone knows, there are no ducks in MN. As for hunting with the guys who were banned, was there any talk about shooting exotic birds? And how did the brown dog do?

The brown dog was plenty adequate, except for when he left and I was once again finding myself in the canine role. Still looking for my first banded peafowl.
