for the people who have these how do you like them? i wasa thinking of asking my parents for one on christmas because they are at a reasonable price as of now($299 at gander) I could probably get them to get me the voyager but dont know if i need something that big. I wouldnt get the yukon either because it is in between and i either want a 2 man or a 3 man not a "big" 2 man for 100 dollars less than the 3 man, that just wouldnt make sense. I fish with one of my buddies a lot and i think a 2 man like this would be nice... What are your thought? any other recomended houses?

Thanks in advance

Ryan

I owned one for a couple of years and it was just fine for fishing one person comfortably. One thing I did not care for was that it was not a very tall house. You put two people in there, a flasher, a camera, and you have got yourself a dicey situation trying to get back out the door slouched down. I guess I would go with the Yukon if that is an option.

My wife and I have the guide and really like it. Reynolds is right about the size of the house. It is not too bad to for sitting in, and it is easier to heat, but like he said, once you get a few pieces of equipment in there, it makes for a tough exit. Another thing too, the guide will only zip up to another guide or the 2000, so if you want to use the traplink, the yukon or voyager can be more advantageous. I do like the guide for how lite it is and Ii can toss it in the back of my truck with everything but the auger in the sled. Good luck!

I got the Fish Trap Pro last year and love it. If you are just one person going out alone its perfect. Light enough for one person to get in and out of a vehicle and trail nicely and easliy behind a wheeler or sled. Its very moble and fast and easy to set up. If you are a hole hopper I would definitly suggest the Fish Trap Pro smile.gif

I bought a Fish Trap Pro last year also and I agree that that it is a awesome house for 1 person. It's light for pulling by hand and plenty of room for all you electronic's and and heater. Very happy with this purchase.

Depends how tall you are, or how big. I bought the Yukon because it was significantly taller. I am over 6'. Most of the guys I go with are also over 6'. I used to have a shack that didn't allow me to stand. It was a real pain. The difference between the Yukon and the Voyageur for me was weight and dimensions. I wasn't sure I could fit the Voyageur in the back of my truck. As it would have turned out, there would have been no way. Nothing wrong with any of Clamcorp's shacks. I would like a smaller one when it is just me, but that height is still important.

I have a Guide that is over 8 years old and I really like it. It has the old sliding benches so I can get my auger to lay down on the sled nicely. It has more floor space for gear and stuff and is still light enough for me to throw into the back of my truck. I usually bring this house out if I am bringing multiple kids with me so they can fish together.

I also have a Fish Trap Pro and Scout that I like for hole hopping. They are a bit lighter and easier to throw around. Cole likes to use the Scout by himself. It doesn't have poles to extend so it's easy for him to use.

I am a big fan of their houses and if I had to buy another to use for taking more people out I'd probably get the Yukon.

Good luck,

Corey Bechtold

I'm only 5'5 so it works perfect for me, but your right about if your tall it may be a problem. I would have to much of a problem pulling a 2 man house with all my gear. I don't a have a atv or snowmobile and if there is any snow on the ice this can cause alot of problems pulling all that weight by hand.

Good call on the weight thing. I forgot to mention that as well. The Yukon is about the max that I would want to pull by hand/or lift in/out of the truck. I don't have a snowmobile or atv either. That Yukon is a lot of work.

yea weight and size is not a big deal to me... i have the scout when i need to walk out as well as the pak shack now and love them. With the voyager/guide i would be pulling it behind my snowmobile since we have our cabin on the lake i wouls fish mostly and other lakes are basically attached. So the towing would not be a big problem. What i am worried about now that you mention it is my friends and i are about 6' tall and we all have a lot of electronics and stuff to stache in there. I alone have a aqua vu camara, a marcum vx-1 and a big buddy heater. This would probably be to much stff to ft in there since my friends would have a vexilar also. i manage to fit all my stuff in the scout but i dont know if i could fit 2x that into the guide. thanks for the help! i will probably ask for the voyager wink.gif

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
