I just received a letter from GM recognizing a defect in the instrument panel on 04 & 04 Chev trucks. It's related to gauges not reading properly, mainly the speedo and the fuel gauge. In my case, the speedo has been pegged at 120+mph for a while. I've been relying on my tach, both with boat and without, and the GPS speedo. If you're having the issue, see a dealer.
It's not an "official" recall, so the consumer needs to take action. Covers up to 70k miles, and lucky me, I'm just over that. Pressing the issue since I've had it for a while. Wish me luck.
Just wanted to pass along the info, as so often these letters are disregarded. If I save someone $500 even better.
We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
