Buddy made what we thought was a good hit on a small doe on Saturday night. After looking for blood and accidentally pushing her, we backed off until morning.

Here is what was left.

While you can't see the other side, both backstraps, hams, and front shoulders were completely eaten out, along with most of the guts. Surprisingly, they left part of the lungs and the heart. Even rib meat was chewed out.

Would probably do the same thing again given the choice, but it was frustrating!

Couple that with the fact that I found out the hard way I have a hanging firing pin, and we went 0-fer this weekend on does! It's been a good season, but I'd like another doe for the freezer.

Never seen the result of that situation before. Thanks for sharing. Yotes are terrible these days. Wish I could shoot some.

Nature always makes use of itself though.

same thing happened to me last year we had a rought time finding blood so we waited till the next morn it was cold so she would be good and it was a good hit with a bow but found her just as bad if not worse .. nothin to salvage it is really to bad when the happens.. although shot three yotes off her later that day

In our area we need to follow-up immediatly on our deer or our result is normally the same as the photo.

Coyotes, if given the chance, will gorge themselves till they puke and then, they may eat some more.

yeah the other night a car hit a young deer in front of my house and was slightly alive yet and trying to pull itself around it was a sad sight the guy didnt know what to do but i was ready with the hammer and a light had him hold it and finished it off its really to bad when you got to do it that way... but the next day it had been drug down further in the ditch and the hind end eaten away
