Thank heavens, a gentleman!

Howdy,

A buddy and I were duck hunting out by Canby, and blanked. Bad day.

We went to the truck to change out of waders for boots and vest when another vehicle pulled up. The driver came over and started talking, asking us if we were duck hunting or pheasant hunting.

We explained we were done duck hunting and planning on going after roosters. He honored us the field and chatted some more about the birds and the day and wished us luck then drove off!

That was about the classiest move I've seen in a long time hunting public lands.

He said he and the other person only pheasant hunt, so maybe you're on here. Thanks for being top notch, it made me and my buddy's day. I hope you found the birds and whatever else you were looking for in life that day. Seems like good wishes could not be bestowed on a better gent.

Very best,

Lanyard

That WAS classy!!!

I had a case last year where I was hunting a small management area, 65 acres, had been hunting for about 1/2 hour, when I looked up and saw another hunter that had parked in the ditch to cut me off from a cornfield on the edge, then he proceeded to walk the line. At first I gave him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he didn't see my truck or me, then when I got back to my truck I could see his truck easily. He just wanted to walk that line and to heck with common curtesy. To top it off, as I was watering the dogs he came driving by and talked to me, and then took offense when I told him how classless he was. That area had literally thousands of acres of public land within two miles but he was doing the 'me first' thing and cutting me off. And regretfully you see a lot of that on public hunting areas. Once you get past opening day, if someone else is hunting an area, unless its huge, go find somewhere else!!!
