transom trolling motor

I have a wide tiller boat and i was thinking about adding a transom trolling motor to it. My question is why do most boats have there transom motors on the right side of the motor instead of the left. I once had a small tiller and always had the motor on the left. Wouldnt it be hard to run and still use your electronics on the the right. Anyone with any thoughts on this? I also have some older walleye master wave wackers and was wondering if i could have them modified for a trolling motor but i have not been able to find there web site are they still in business? thanks

My transom motor is on the port side,I'd rather reach than be jamed up.When you say most have motor on right?? from where right from looking from the front or the rear?? My electronics are also on portside so when holding elec.motor I'm looking at it.I'm in Atwater and might help with modifing your wavewackers contact me if ya wish.

I can tell you mine is mounted on the right (starboard) side because it's easier to reach from the seating position in our 16' tiller. If I had it on the port side I would have to lean over a little ways to be able to reach it...and it would not be comfortable doing all day long.

The electronics are mounted on the port side of the tiller.
