Fishing Sunday

Ok guys, I’m going to hit the water Sunday morning for another shot at the first fish of the year. It’s been a tough year with a young family at home and getting on the water when I can which is usually at less than ideal times. Now that the metro lakes have turned I’m kind of clueless on where to start. Shallow – Deep – spinners – cranks – rubber - trolling or casting. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Will likely be flying solo on a north metro lake.

Caught a fish last Saturday on a weedline drop, it dropped off to about 15-20. We kept the boat right on the weedline and worked dawgs back up to the weeds. Had another fish on 5 minutes later in the same spot, but the boat partner lost it at the boat.

Was out today and had one hit a bulldawg that was just sitting on the top of the water as I was checking out the graph, turned around and there she was trying to grab it. Never got the hooks in her but she looked all of 42. Sooooooo, I would start on deeper water that is adjacent to weeds or some other kind of structure, point, rocks ect. Going solo on Sunday huh? Maybe I could sneak out for a few hours if you don't mind some comapany. I'll check the schedule and post here tomorrow.

Alright boys, I'll spill the beans for ya....but I expect payback in some way, shape, or form.....

WBL... look for 11 to 12 fow out from the "yellow" shoreline with Mag Dawgs. You'll see what I mean once you're out there. After that, Manitau Isle area, depending on wind direction.......fish on both areas. Not like I gave up "rocket science" if you look at a map, but if you hook up you owe me!

cjac - Killer info and I think I know right where you are talking. With the fore casted winds it might be to difficult to fish WBL with my little 14 ft boat. Forest is looking a little more comfortable for fishing on Sunday. Thank you I greatly appreciate it.

Setterguy - company is good and it's always nice to meet fellow FM'ers, plus it gives the opportunity to learn something new.

Last Friday/Saturday I boated three muskies on a metro lake in less than 4 feet of water. Inside weedline/edge and over the tops of the weeds. Air temps started in the mid-30's, got up to mid-50's, water temps were 48-51 everywhere we checked. Started the day fishing deep and saw/got nothing. Checked up shallow and found 7-10 active fish in a very short time period after 11am, got off the lake at 2:30pm. Mixed sun/clouds and decently windy the whole time.

Like one of the articles said in either EA or MH, check shallow, deep and in-between! <wink>

RU,

Of the two "Yellows" the right/east one seemed to be better....although they are quite close. Kind of a spot on spot deal I guess. Talk about spoon feeding info! Not the most aggressive fish, but they were definitely interested. Any Mag Dawg with a white tail seemes to bring more to the table....

Chris - we could rig up some kind of power casting system, to help with your back. I hope that that get better for next ski season.

Those yellow shorelines have been producing for me all season, thanks for the tips. Hopefully I can repay you next June.
