quickstrike setup

Recommended Posts

You can use a bobber (the thills work best in my opinion) to suspend the sucker at a desired depth, or you can just drag it with enough weight to get it to the depth you want.

What style Quick Strike rig are you using? The lift off or rubber band rig is the best out there. Takes a bit more work to get rigged but definitely easiest on the fish,

Hiya -

Usually have to add some weight. Under a float (I agree with the Thills being the ones to use, by the way), I add a 1/2 to 3/4 oz or so rubber core sinker above the leader.

The only time I don't use a float is when I'm fishing suckers deep. Then I may add up to 4 oz on the line to keep them down and as straight below the boat as possible. Usually need to add 2 oz at least. I just use big snap weights, or round 'monkey ball' sinkers with a snap I clip to the top of the leader swivel.

Cheers,

Rob Kimm

From shore, I would use a bobber.

To control the depth of you sucker, you need either a bobber

or a rodholder, (in the boat). Otherwise the suckers tend to go to the bottom or weeds. To be honest, I have had lots of strikes, but my hookup rate is low. Good Luck.
