Black Hills Deer

I have some picture I forgot that I should of posted from Black HIlls Deer Last week. Here there are 5 deer hangging but we ended up shooting the other three that morning, which then we filled all of our tags.

Are Black hills deer licenses a draw format, or are they basically OTC?

Black Hills deer hunting is a lottery system. Hunting the black hills is a great do it yourself hunt. I grew up in Rapid City almost the entire forest is public and loaded with deer, but dont think it will be easy you will see lots of deer but they are very smart and weary animals. If you go leave the stands at home it is all about sitting in the mornings and evenings then still hunting the rest of the day. Hill City Spearfish and Custer are great towns to rent a hotel room with instant access to great hunting or if camping is more your style the Hills are loaded with all types of campgrounds, or you can also just find a nice spot to pitch camp right in your spot you just cant have open fires if you dont stay in a designated campground. So finding one close to where you want to hunt is a breeze. I love hunting the Hills last year in one day I seen 20-30 deer 3 herds of 15-20 elk with some nice bulls and as an extra added bonus I walk within 10 yards of a full curle bighorn sheep. Where else can you have a hunt like and not spend thousands of dollars.
