Lots of dead lawyers on the ice!!

While I was out chasing fish on Ottertail last Thursday, I noticed what looked like a couple of good sized fish laying by a perm shack.

I putted over, and as I got closer, I saw that they were a couple of five to six pound 'pout. When I got next to the shack, there were several more thrown up on the tin roof.

Man, I bet that stinks when the sun heats up that galvanized tin or the heater is cranking....

I chuckled a bit, but really did not care for the wanton waste of burbot.

Speaking of which-- are there any lakes with pout in them closer to the cities? Or do you pretty much have to go to Mille Lacs or farther?

I've read Mille Lacs is the southern edge of the pout line. They are mighty tasty. A game feed we attend every year up on Mille Lacs has a dish that goes fast. Eel pout pizza.
