Mr.Buddy Question

GatorBait

Recommended Posts

So I went out and purchased a Mr.Buddy Heater today for a Xmas present for myself. I've heard good reviews about them so I'm not worried about quality. During my long excursions in the Permi, I plan on hooking to a 20lb tank. So, when I use this in the portable, I'm curious as to the burn time you get from a 1 lb tank?? I hate guessing, and I'm sure there is someone that can help me out.

Tightlines,

I have the Mr. Heater version sunflower heater and on high the one pound thank will last about 3 to 4 hour range. My buddy pete has the Mr. Buddy and if my memory serves me correctly he gets a little longer run time in the 5 hour range, but it does not kick out as much heat. Hope the info provided helps you judge your runtime.

PS.

Mostly it depends on what setting you have the heater on because the run time can very greatly freom the low to high settings.

I was told that you will need an inline filter if you plan on running the buddy off of a 20lb tank. Cabellas was filled with refurbished Buddies last year because they were returned under warranty by users who used 20 lb tanks w/o filters. I would hate to be out and have ot quit early because of a heater issue. I use a filter with mine and haven't had any problems. Sorry, I don't have a burn time for you with a 1 pounder.

I got my 12' hose and fuel filter just this past month, and I can't exactly remember hours wise, but I think my Big Buddy ran for about 6 or 8hours on high (both sides running) with the 1 lbs canisters. PS, a few other things:

I had the small one, and used it once and returned it, and got the Big Buddy. I highly recommend this to anyone over the small one. Menards had them on sale for $97 and change a couple weeks ago, $30 off regular price. I have posted this somewhere else on here too, but I will say it again, Menards regular price on their 12 foot hose and fuel filter is ALOT cheaper than Cabelas or Gander. My hose was $19.99 at Menards, and they are $35 at the sporting goods stores. The filter was a couple bucks cheaper at Menards as well.
