Switching to synthetic oil question

sirsunnyslayer

Question

I've been running the manufactures recomended oil since new and now am thinking of switching over to a synthetic oil and I have a question. The motor in question is an oil injected carbureted two stroke.

Can a guy mix the two oils or do I have to drain what is left in the resevoir?

They will all mix. AMSOIL does recommend to minimize mixing. Run your current oil down until your warning light/buzzer kicks, then just top the oil tank off with the new. Never take a chance running one all the way out! Also, many are extremely difficult to drain, or at the least are very messy to drain.
