Lighthouse Tent

I'm thinking of getting a replacement tent for my Yukon. Anyone like the lighthouse tent? Pros and Cons please.

Nobody has one or fished out of a clam with the Lighthouse tent? I guess I'll have to be the Guniea Pig. I just thought that if it lets more light in then I wouldn't have to flip the lights on so early. Are there other drawbacks, because the tent that came with it is not in bad shape. I just thought that for under $100 it might be worth a try.

I used a Lighthouse tent before for a few days... They worked great but some of the downfalls were that they let in way too much light for some sight fishing opportunities, they are harder to see on the ice (can be a benefit at times on pressured waters), and they didnt retain heat as well as the blacked out models...

Benefits were that during lowlight periods you still gathered enough light inside to tie stuff up and see without the aid of a light (say just as the sun comes up or just prior to twilight).

I do know of one guide service that did a test as they were being followed quite a bit on the ice, where they set up regular traps and lighthouse traps... the lighthouse traps were left alone out on the ice but the regular blue traps had people following left and right..

So yeah, some added bonuses, but some minuses too...

Thanks Jim, that just the kind of info I was looking for. I wonder if using a sheet of the reflectix insulation would cure both the too much light and the heat retention issues.
