I actually like the first better. The vertical crop takes away from the shot since there is so much water in the foreground.

I agree with Mike. The crop could be a little tighter in the first shot, but I like the horizontal crop better. You have great color in the drake's head. I've always had trouble, for some reason, of getting the bright green without blowing it out. Well done!
