wallter
As I can't run out and buy a motor to run on my 12' duck boat and becuase I have a really nice bowmount trolling motor on my 18' Alumacraft. I thought why couldn't I use my troller. I'm wondering if this will be a huge project or an easy transfer. 1. Would I have to mount it on the front of my duck boat as well? 2. Am I going to have to buy all kinds of electrical hook ups and mounting plates, etc.?
311Hemi
Why not just look for a cheap used transom mount trolling motor. Decent ones can be found cheap (+/- $50). I just build a little platform/transom that just sits on the end of my Alumacraft Ducker and it worked well. Now I just need a good.....weedless trolling motor. My old 18 lb thrust MinnKota got tangled up with weeds last weekend multiple times.
wallter
That's my point. I don't think a cheap one would work. I have an 80 lb. minn kota that will tear through any weeds. But, well you know my dilemma.
thaJman
Mounting a bow mount to the transom would be tough. Also dragging two batteries around would suck. I used a 12V transom mount on my 12' jon boat and it was useless when the wind came up. I usually ended up paddeling back. I bought a used 4 horse Johnson with a weedless prop last year and that works very well. I think I paid about $200 for it.
