i never have really evening duck hunted, always in the morning. Now with the first week over i was thinking about trying it out this afternoon. I was just wondering how much success can be had in the evening hunts? Is it worth it?

The best part of evening hunting, in my experience, is watching the birds come in after legal quitting time. You get a glimpse of what dreams are made of.

Successful evenings for me typically have been when ice or other weather during migration are going on. some terrific b'bill shoots in spitting weather and it so dark you could see the muzzle blasts!

That was cool...

I agree on that one. If the weather is really nice out. They probably won't fly until that last few minutes before dark. Which you can't hunt anyways. When the weather sucks. Thats when you want to hunt. Even in the morning I love waiking up to rain, when I am going duck hunting.

If you can find a field that the ducks are feeding in

and get permision to hunt it, you can have a pretty good afternoon shoot. If you can, just follow the ducks off a lake the afternoon before you hunt and see where they go. The tricky part can be finding the right person to get permision from. Just set up in the field the next day as long as the wind is somewhat the same and the birds should feed there again.

ten four fellas. yeah it wasnt so bad this afternoon. deffinately right after shooting time was over we must of saw 80-100 wood ducks, a few flocks of mallards, and teal burning us left and right. If we would of had 30 more minutes or 15 minutes and good shooting we would of had a nice limit apiece.
