Pitching Sticks On Reels

Hey guys, stupid/easy question, how/what do you use the pitching knobs/sticks on some baitcasters for? Obviously it's for pitching, but I'm not sure how to use them/they work? Thanks!

The pitching "button" on some baitcasters will let you push the thumbbar down and instead of it clicking down and letting the spool spin free, when you let it up it will stop the spool. So when you flip instead of stoping the spool with your thumb you just let go of the bar and it stops. Hope that helps.

Yep.. olski has it.. it alows to free spool to get a set amount of line.. then when you let off the thumb bar the reel is already engaged so you are ready to set the hook... Its slightly different on the shimano flipping reels.
