tree problem?

I've got a big tree in the backyard and the leaves have spots on them. I don't remember that from last year. Seems like almost all the leaves have a spot on them, and most in the same location on the leaf. This picture happens to show three spots on one leaf. They have a little rise or depth from the leaf, and the backside is a brown, but definitely not close in color to the darkness of the front. Very hard and have a 'fingerprint' pattern on them. I tried piching them and they don't crack, but if you run your finger over them, they don't have a lot of give either. Any ideas?

I would'nt worry silver maples are like weeds not much I've seen can harm them.With the dry season the trees are stressed,and suseptable.

My maples look the same way.

it is called maple tar spot. there is nothing to worry about it is only an aesthetic problem and will not harm the tree.
