Dakota Iceman
Does anyone know how much it is for a out of stater to get a minnesota fishing license? I can see by the other post that you must have to have a license for portables as well, if the post's i read are correct that was 12.00 dollars for the shack one.....just curious as to the out of state charge for fishing license. Thanks, Kelly.
Matt D
NR Angling license (annual): $36NR Shelter: $34Less for 24 hr. and 7-day licenses; see the Minnesota DNR's HSOforum for those------------------Best FISHES,Matt
Jarrod32
An annual costs $34 for non-resident individual; that would only be good through February 28, 2003. An individual non-resident 7-day license is $24.I don't think you can get a 2003-2004 license until after February 28. Maybe I am wrong on that? There are also 24 and 72 hour licenses available if you're just up for a weekend.
WallEYES
DAKOTAICEMAN The non resident annual license fee is up to par with other states, not,too bad,but the 34 clams you have to pay for the shelter license is a joke. Us residence guys pay 12.50. I'd like to know where all that money goes from that seperate fee/fund?
Dakota Iceman
Wow.....glad i asked. I would have been rudely suprised to find out it was going to be all of a 80.00 bill to wet a line in the land of 10,000 lakes. But im sure there are plenty of natives who would say if you dont want to pay....fish in your own darn state!! Thanks for the info. Dakota Iceman. Guest
I have a Frabil tri-plex, would I have to license it if I just sat in the seat and never flipped it over, or how about if I have it pulled half way up to block the wind??

Guest
Dakota Iceman - depending on the time you plan to fish you can get NR Fishing License for periods of 24-hour [$8.50+change] or 72-hour [$20.00]and you can pick your starting and ending hour also - they do not need to start the minute you buy it. I attended a couple catfish outings this past season and it worked well for me at 24-hours a pop. Of course if I attended more events Id' go for the whole enchilada Whatever works ... do it. Guest
I heard that on a couple Zimmerman area lakes a couple years ago that a CO was writing up people for watching tip ups from their trucks. The CO was interpreting the truck as a portable shelter. I like to warm up in the truck once in a while when tip up fishing, so I wrote an email to the DNR asking whether a portable fish house license was needed for a vehicle when tip up fishing. The reply that I got was that a license is NOT needed for your vehicle, I laminated a copy of that email and put it in my glove box in case the problem ever arises. If this ever happens to anyone, the ticket should be overturned.
joneshat11
If you ask me that pretty darn cheep considering your catching fish out of minnesota lakes all year long. This is true! Welcome to Minnesota land of many taxes and fees, but welfare pays goot. The do gooder state! You acually need a shelter license out of a vehicle while fishing, but gosh darn it how to you write your name and address along with reflective material to your vehicle? uuhh!E
Guest
They shouldn't give you a ticket for being in your truck without a portable fish house license if you are watching tip ups. I don't know if you are using jigging holes. Unless you were fishing through holes in the floorboards of your truck, you got screwed. All I know is that I keep a laminated copy of an email from the DNR in my glove box saying my truck isn't a portable fish house. If I ever have a problem with a CO, that's all the evidence I need. 2dog
There was good discussion on this subject earlier this spring in the Red Lake board. Graffitigreg had emailed the DNR with some questions and they emailed him back there responses. Guest
Thanks for the help there 2dog. Just like I said, a vehicle can't be considered a portable fish house unless you are fishing through holes in the floor!
WallEYES
ER FISHIN I was jigging out of my truck with the door open and truck running. Same as a shelter.
Guest
If they are going to be that way and ticket people sitting in their vehicles, watching holes OUTSIDE the vehicle...then the CO's could really have a hayday at the Ice Fishing Tournaments, couldn't they!! Thats a scary thought!!------------------ ~ ~ Kevin (aka: The WOLF)
