How did the youth hunt go?

Recommended Posts

The Red River Sportsman's club and Wahpeton Parks and Rec department sponser a youth hunt where they took a group of kids out to the Teawaukan Refuge last Saturday for the youth opener. The night before the hunt they have the kids out to the local trap range for some practice shooting at clay pigeons, pizza, show them how to call and identify ducks, and talk about safety. The club basically provides every thing for the kids; shells, duck calls donated by Sportsman Warehouse, Mentors, transportation, and breakfast. The local game warden and biologists at the refuge put out decoys and help mentor the kids. I was there with my son. The ducks were pretty active and the kids had a lot of fun shooting at the ducks. I think just about all of the 15 kids or so had at least one duck. Sportsman Warehouse had their hunting manager and asst. manager come down and hunt with the kids and they gave each one of the a chance to win a new shotgun.
