Whopper Stopper
Anyone have any experience or comments about the Tuffy line of boats? I am looking at the 1890 with a 200 horse Suzuki. Thanks for any comments! WS
tommyk
I bought a Tuffy Osprey 1700 this year and could not be happier. I was looking at a 1760, but that had sold just two days before I called. They had a 1700 in the showroom so I went to look and was amazed at how much larger the layout of the boats feel than their size dimensions would seem to allow especially now that they offer a G-Series model that does not have the gunnel cap. I have seen photos of the new 1890 G Series boats and there seems to be a huge gain in room over the model with the wide gunnels. You have the choice of single console, double console, full glass walk-through windshield, and tiller. Thats more choices than a lot of boats that size offer. My 1700 has handled big waves better than I thought a boat that size would be able to, I can't even imagine how well the 1890 would ride. The 1890 is very reasonably priced too, probably 10,000 less than a Ranger 619. I suggest you go see one in person and try to get out in one and try it out. tommyk
The dealer I bought mine from does not carry Tuffy anymore so the Red Wing dealer would be the closest. I think they are near Lake Pepin and you probably could run one out there.
