I read in the paper that there is a weak la nina this year. They are forecasting slightly more snow than average with slightly warmer than average temps. Let's hope they are right on the snow prediction. Although I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm holding my winter prediction until next April. Seems to be the only safe bet the last 20 years. Sure would be nice to see more snow but I gave up hoping after the last SEVERAL dry winters. Tough sport to be in. Cant believe I'm still willing to hold out.

Us operational meteorologists usually consider the long range stuff voodoo meteorology, but the long range climate dudes are forecasting a 30 percent likelihood of above normal temperatures for MN for the Dec-Feb time period. This will be updated next week (once monthly toward mid month)

I would go so far as to predict 100% chance it will be warmer than average. That's a trend.
