Its always worth trying for flats. The action isn't fast and furious but the potential for catching a monster is there. This time of year there is a small window where they really can strap on that feedbag in preparation for the long winter. You can take the chance and be on the water when it happens or you can stay at home and not have any chance.

You are right Rushing.

I want head to the Croix tonight with my brother in-law to this new guy I started fishing with. But! I am waiting for the right time to spring it on the wife. I figure in past it is a couple of minutes before I stir my self up and go. This eliminates the argue time before I leave grin.gif.

Rushing is right!

Since no one can accurately predict when

fish will bite, the best time to fish is

anytime you can!

Keep in mind that falling air temperatures do

not necessarily indicate falling water temperature.

I have still not determined if the Fall feed

is triggered by falling water temps or the amount

of light and its intensity.

There are so many variables that influence fish

behavior that predicting feeding is difficult.

One thing I do know. Fish that don't eat will

become extinct. You cannot catch them sitting

on your couch.

No aftermath man, I punked out.

I elected to stay home with her last night and watch movies. She is a great wife! I can not complain!

Very far and few when I ever spring a last minute fishing trip on her. When I do she has been know to give a dirty look or two, but by the next morning she is fine. Spend time with them when you are not fishing/hunting and they will let you go. Unless they have other plans.

Very interesting thought.

I've been contemplating this over the last month. We had a goofy spell of weather that raised our waters and dropped the temps considerably.

I would have thought the big bite would have kicked in.

It didn't lots a little guys and a very occasional big one.

Now that the days are getting shorter. Its going to be interesting to see what happens.

thanks
