we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted December 1, 2002 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 1, 2002 I too will weigh-in on the Angel Eye side. I've used both and I'm definitely partial to the Angel Eye spoons. The body, split rings and hooks working together on the Angel Eyes and Angel Eye Jrs. actually makes more noise then the buck shot when jigged. This is caused by the design of the blade and the type of metal it is constructed from. That added to the wounded minnow flutter can make it irrisistable to panfish and gamefish alike. With perch and walleye definitely bang the Angel Eye on the bottom and even leave it lay there.[This message has been edited by Rick (edited 12-02-2002).]
curt quesnell
We generally use just the head of the minnowwith a shorter jigging motion. Sometimes aquick snap and sometime more subtle.Interesting that you would mention these twotop of the line jigging spoons Becausefor the last 2 years my ice fishing partnerhas been using the Buckshot while I usedthe AE and the AEjr and he beat me once outof about 20 trips. To be fair, we tied occasionally, we wereclose some of the time and I thrashed himsoundly a time or two. He caught more withthe Buckshot only one time. This new Glow Devil spoon is more along theline of the Buckshot Rattle Spoon in that iswill fall straighter and faster.Further, when in a group with lots of everything being used the Angel Eye is stillon top more than not. On a day when the AE is obviously not the thing to use, I willtoo often stay with it just because of theconfidence I have in it.Its good to have lots of things in the waterto test the moods of the fish. The AE and AEjr and now the Glow Devil will always be onone of my ice rods.Curt Quesnell[This message has been edited by curt quesnell (edited 12-01-2002).]
Guest
We got some pretty muddy reservoirs here in Ohio. Whats the visibility on those lakes were the A.E. is good. Around here its maybe 1-2 foot max. Blades are common. I got A.E's and Glo Devils for this season and was wondering how they performed on low or no viz. reservoirs. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted December 2, 2002 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 2, 2002 Where Curt is on Lake of the Woods is low visibility. They normally don't bother fishing it after dark because the lake is so stained and the fish just don't seem to bite because of the poor visibility. Northlander
I think when the fish are less agresive the slow sideways fall of the A.E. is better, especially in shallower waters. When fishing deeper and you need the extra attraction of the rattle the buckshot is a good choice. Another spoon to try is the Blue Fox Tingler. Dont let the size scare you they flutter a lot like the A.E. I like to add some glow tape to them in dirtier water. They work great on L.O.W. and our St.Louis River in Duluth/Superior. Thats my 2 cents. Steve.
