The weather has kept me away from my muskie rod for what seems like weeks. Now that this soggy weather seems to be on the way out smile.gif I’m curious as to how the clearing will impact the fishing. After a big low that we’ve been experiencing it looks as if we have some stable high pressure moving in. Can we expect a decent bite soon or will it typically take many days of stable highs to get the fish moving? I know pre-frontal is best – what about post-extended-frontal. Is it worth going out there or should I save my arm for later next week. Any thoughts?

Gentlemen,

Actually the fishing has been good most of the week. We saw fish and had hook-ups Tuesday AM, buddy caught 2 on Wednesday evening and then I was out with a friend last night and we caught 3 in two hours. The weather has been stable all week with it being rainy and miserable, now with it moving into a high pressure pattern who knows what will happen? I know there will be a lot of boats out this weekend with the weather being so nice!

Fishing is great for me. I went out to Lake Jane this morning and came up with 4 northerns and 2 LMB. Then I went over to DeMontreville and got (2) 22 inch northerns and 3 LMB ranging from 17 to 19 inches. Lake Olson did not yield anything for me.

The bite has been soft lately with the bass and northerns, at least for me. Not many people on the lake, only myself and 2 other boats to the whole lake.

We have basically been in an unstable, stormy low pressure pattern all week. The foggy conditions in the morning are a good indication of this. Like many of you have witnessed, fishing has been fairly good overall. Essentially, we have been pre-frontal all this week. The exception would be today (Friday) where we are now well to the north of the frontal system. This post-frontal pattern will contiue through Saturday, but will start to change a bit on Sunday. The weak high pressure starts to push off to the east on Sunday, shifting to full pre-frontal again by Monday morning.

If I had to pick a day to go fishing this weekend, it would be Sunday. However, I'm sure all the metro-area lakes will be very crowded with the warm weather and plentiful sunshine. The next cold front will push through Monday evening, with a much stronger area of high pressure behind it. After Monday night, the entire rest of next week will be dry and relatively cool. That said, I don't think the fishing will be too spectacular for most of next week (except for Monday). Monday should be a great day for Musky fishing...

Went out on Turtle Lake 08/25/07 this morning at 5:30. Came on the weed lines and worked it until 10:00 AM when the pleasure boaters started to come out. Got (11) northerns with the smallest at 17 inches and the biggest at 23 inches. Also got 6 LMB ranging from 13 inches to 19 inches. Had a great morning and worth my time to run from WBL to Arden Hills.
