Hay Creek ? Worth going? Parking/Access ppoints?

I am just starting to explore MN's fly fishing locations.

Last weekend I went to whitewater state park (caught 3 small ones), and a few minutes in Farmington (what a joke) and am thinking of doing Hays Creek (by Red Wing) next.

Is that a decent spot? Any idea where the best pace to park is?

Thanks,

David

Isn't Whitewater also done? I doubt trout could fight and survive a flood like that.

I think the trout will return. There have been fish killed, but the flood may have actually made things better in the long term, and hopefully opened a few eyes as to what can happen when land surrounding streams isn't treated well...

I grew up in RW and I will be fishing the creek tomorrow 9-15 with my dad. I would be happy to clue you in on some water. t k i c z u l a @ (Contact Us Please) c a s t . n e t . The flooding was further south than RW, but that is not to say that they didn't get rain. The creek needed it though.

See you on the water.

I have not fished it this season, but I have a bunch over the years. It does get plenty of pressure and I have run into very picky fish. I rarely fish it now other than in the early/winter season. worth a go though. Nice looking water close to lots of things. Hope the flooding didn't blow it out too badly.
