Any truth to it?

Not introduce... Quail Unlimited is starting a new program to enhance habitat in States with marginal Quail populations... Minnesota being one of them. I believe they will work on 500 acres this year. Minnesota still has a remenant population of quail, albeit small and unhuntable. We no longer have the habitat to have a good, sustainable, huntable, population. They hope the habitat improvements will bring about a population increase that will allow limited opportunities in the next 15-25 years... we will have to wait and see.

Good Luck!

My Uncle said in the Rosemount area in the late 1930 till WW2 he and my Grandfather hunted quail. He said they disappeared shortly after the war. He remembered when the population started to drop people would order quail from down south and release them. He thought the southern quail bred with the northern quail and bred the winter hardiness out of them. Plus he said habitat changed as well. My Uncle and Grandfather are gone now but they did like to talk about quail hunting. In the late 70's and early 80's there were large numbers of Hungarian Partridge around but I have not seen one in many years.
