Trolling motor interference

jt24

Question

I have a 24 volt minnkota powerdrive with a lowrance X52 on it and it seems to have a problem once in a while reading the depth. This happens more in deep water around drop offs. I moved my LMS 332 up front the other day just to see how that worked and everytime I would start the trolling motor it would turn black in the 0 to what ever depth I was in. As soon as i would turn it off it goes back to the normal color and then i can see fish arches or weeds. Thanks for any help! confused.gif

Are you supplying the power to the sonar unit from the same battery as the trolling motor? This could cause some trouble. Also, if you have your transducer cable strapped to the motor power cable, try seperating the two.

It might even be possible to obtain transducers with better shielding. Don't know for sure on that, though.
