Need a suggestion

Ok I've been fishing the same spot the last 4 years for catfish. I know there must be a better way to catch them then what I've been using. It's off a dock in a lake and I used in the past just fished off the bottom with a sliding sinker and a live medium sucker. Would catch about 2-3 a night really slow to come by. This year I tried something different I used chicken liver with the same setup a sliding 1/2 oz sinker and I caught almost 2 dozen bullheads before I caught just one catfish. I would like to know what I should be using for tackle and bait to catch more catfish and less bullheads. I know there are a lot of catfish in this lake but it must be my setup that they bite so slow or even my bait selection.

Your not gonna stop the bullies,but if ya went back to the suckers,There probably too large for the bullies! Hope ya get a suggestion better than mine but I'm doubtful.What lake has that many kitties?Hope its near me I'd like some pan sized,all I get in the Mn. river are large and the lakes around Willmar have some but I only get a few at a time

I would suggest taking those same suckers and using them as cutbait. I actually just came off the water from probably the best morning of cattin' that I have had. Most of the fish came off of cut sucker. That is my two cents.

In turn, try cut bully.

I have used this at local dam a couple of times and have caught channel every time.

I have flayed one side of bully and loop it on a 7/0-10/0 circle octi hook. Even small channels bite and set hook.

Try some of the premaid stink baits, they seem to work very well in still water situations.

Go with the cut baits, especially the suckers. If you do end up catching a bullie, he will be large. I have caught bullies while using suckers, but the smallest went just a hair over 2 lbs, and yes, they WERE bullies.
