Paul
I was going through some old pcitures today and found these 3 which aren't that the best techincal shots in the world since they were done with an olympus point and shoot with a decent digital zoom capabily. It is the subjects that I like. I thought I would share. I took these from my Hotel Balcony in Ketchican Alaska. Notice the Eagle with the brown head instead of white. these are the yearlings. Their Heads do not turn white untill they reach at least one year of Age.
MN Shutterbug
Wow, that is one bunch of eagles. After this bout of hot weather, I'm almost thinking of moving to Alaska.
Steve Foss
Some cool numbers there, and tough lighting conditions. Thanks for sharing these.A note: bald eagles don't attain full white plumage until their fourth or fifth year. Second-year birds have white mottling on the belly and brown heads. Third year birds have more white on the heads but retain a brown stripe through the eyeline and on top of the head. Fourth year birds have just a little brown left on the head, and by the fifth year they are the beautiful prime adult.
