chunkytrout
Just about ready to get this baby in the water. I have full factory guages in this boat. One thing the previous owner told me is that after running WOT for a couple of minutes, the low oil horn (on the motor) will go off til you back her down a bit. Both res's are full. There's one in the engine (emergency back-up) and the main outboard oil tank. My factory oil guage works and says all is well. Weak pump, dirty sensor, or something else. What do you think? Again the low oil horn that's sounding is actually in the motor.
marine_man
I'm fairly certain that the low oil indicator is driven off a float in the tank... so I'd say the float in the motor is suspect. And actually, the tank on your motor isn't the emergency backup. Oil is pumped from the big tank to the small tank mounted on the motor, and the oil is pulled from the small tank into the carbs.marine_man
