Kylersk
I've got a 1750 sport fish w/ 115 optimax and so far, I've only used my bow mount trolling motor to troll for walleyes. I've read and heard alot about back trolling but not sure why that's prefered over how I'm doing it?So, my question is this.. Should I seriously consider back trolling? If so, why and with what method? Kicker motor? Electric Transom mount motor or maybe even a drift sock with my main motor?
jerkin'm
I would say go with the drift socks first...Your motor should keep you slow enough with a sock out each side to do whatever you want. I had two socks out on my boat (1880 Skeeter w/150 Yamaha 4 stroke) and was just about stopped backtrolling into a 15 mph breeze...I too am just starting to backtroll and so far so good with the sock method...
