Tying on to spool

I just use a regular old granny knot, tied as many times as it takes to keep the knot from slipping out.

But with superbraid/fused lines, tying it directly to the spool can allow the whole line to slip around the spool. So you can start with mono and then tie on the superbraid or you can tie the superbraid/fused righ to the spool, make a few turns and run a length of tape around the spool.

There is a knot that is designed for this, I tried a serch to find a web page then remembered your not allowed to post web addys anyway... But the knot goes like this...

Tie an overhead knot around the spool, then with the tag end tie an overhand knot just with the tag end around the incomming line... If you do this right you end up with a knot that snugs up against the spool.

Otherwise a touch of superglue does the trick too...eletrical tape is another good one!
