Militant panfishing extremist

After thinking long and hard about it, I realized that I like sunfish best of all the freshwater fish. If I couldn't fish for sunnies, I'd probably quit fishing. I know I'm supposed to revere more heavily marketed fish, but I just can't help elevating sunnies to the top of the pleasure pyramid of freshwater fishing.

I have to admit to a similar outlook on life. I have even relegated LM bass to "varmint" classification because they keep tearing up my sunfish rigs

Hehe, it is cool different people like different fish. I actually hate sunnies as they always give false "bites" or tear up my bait. But I like that they are always around to keep the kids busy. Heck, I think they have most of them trained at the dock!

I actually love crappies as best panfish, as I love how they attack the jig/minnow when they hit. They are ferocious.

But my fav is smallies.

We were camping Vermilion and the Wally's were too busy eating mayflies to hit the baits so I dug out the fly rod and had a blast catching sunnies off the dock on dry flies.
